Last night was the first real dark night I’ve walked home from this year. I left work around 6pm and by the time I had crossed the street and said goodbye to a coworker it was as dark as December. I won’t prey on your sensibilities with a slew of cliches about walking home alone in a chilly night in October. We’ve all been there. It’s a universal feeling.
I had my camera with me and fortunately some of these pictures came out well enough that I thought I’d post them here.
If I had a minute to spare...

False advertising! lol Honestly, great shots. my hubby is a photographer. I love his film work, since he went all digital…I don’t know, I think he lost a little of his oomph! He really liked the film, chemicals and paper. The computer may have stifled some of his creativity.

I think with digital it just makes taking photographs too easy, in terms of taking plenty of shots but also in terms of processing. That being said, I’m lazy and always too happy to have photos come out as well as these did. Still actually can’t get over it considering how dark it was at the time.

What type of camera are you using? I’m not a photographer by any means, nor do I know more than just the “point and click” way of shooting, but your shots are so crisp and clear. Is that from the camera or something special you’ve done to them? They’re gorgeous photos by the way. 🙂

I was a point and shoot guy for a long time, but I found that I liked pointing and shooting a lot and decided that I’d invest a little money in it.
I use a Nikon D5100, and for these shots I had a 35mm lens attached. This is a new toy which I’m enjoying playing with. Before that I had a Sony DSC-H9, which was kind of a very fancy and large point and shoot. The Nikon is a DSLR.
From my own perspective, images really brighten up the look of the blog, and I like to use my own photos mostly. That being said, I probably use my iphone just as much, if not more.
A good camera is a good investment if you ask me, as phones do have decent cameras, they’re limited and having a good camera in the right situation can add to the photographic experience.

Thanks so much for the info! I agree – good photos add SO much to a blog experience. I’m moving to South Korea in February and have been looking at getting a camera since I’m leaving behind my smart phone while I’m there. I couldn’t decide whether I should front the money for a good quality one or just go with the simple digital slice of metallic cheese looking ones but looking at your pictures on your blog has pretty much solidified the need to get the camera that will best capture everything I’m going to experience while I live overseas. Sorry to continue to bother you, but I do have one more question (and I could look this up on google if it’s a bother but I figured personal opinion is better than google’s opinion) but why 35 mm? Does that make a difference in your pictures? Again – photo dunce over here 🙂 Thanks!
